"User Generated Content" means any content you make available to other users through your use of multi-user features of Steam, or to Valve or its affiliates through your use of the Content and Services or otherwise. Steam provides interfaces and tools for you to be able to generate content and make it available to other users and/or to Valve at your sole discretion. But the whole concept seems to be a little too complex for you, so I'll leave you with this: I wouldn't have if they are ported to other platforms. Yeah, I published those maps publicly, on Steam, and have absolute control about what version is available to people who have subscribed to them. Learn how things work before you speak next time. You're just mad cuz you want something to be mad about and it's pathetic. Remove "your" maps from the workshop, no one cares. Tell me you know nothing about the law without telling me you know nothing about the law. You're using THEIR assets and agreeing to THEIR terms and conditions. You clearly don't understand how these things work. I've published many maps in my life and never once thought "i DoNt WaNt MoRe PeOpLe HaViNg AcCeSs To ThEm." Btw, Team17 owns your maps. There's literally no reason you'd be able to justify this.ĭon't uh. You'd be the only one who has this incredibly stupid mindset. Don't ever become a developer in your entire life. Wtf are smoking.? It's the SAME game except on console. So you wouldn't want people playing your maps that are already free to play through steams version, on the workshop on console? IDGAF about the player base outside of Steam, I'm also not a T17 shareholder so they can crash and burn or make billions. I don't want to hear a single "bUt WhAt aBouT teH CoMMuNiTy‽". You don't have to be Shakespeare and introduce new words into the English language to be considered worthy of certain rights. That's completely ignoring the potential questions concerning the legality of such a move as the creator certainly has some sort of copyright to their content, but IANAL.Īnd before anyone comes with the great argument that those maps are "just a bunch of already made pieces stuck together", so are 99+% of all literary works. I'm not claiming to speak for everybody who published content for this game, nor do I want to, but I feel like it is highly unlikely that anyone would be happy about their work being taken out of their control and being used to prop up a game on other platforms. Thanks to everyone playing my map and please leave a rating for improvements to come.As someone who has published more than a couple of maps here let me just say that the moment Team17 would announce that they plan to port Workshop Maps from Steam to console, or even float the idea in their communication, is the moment where I'll pull every one off the workshop.
